Today will be partly sunny, hot, and humid. High temperatures will climb to the middle 90s; with afternoon heat index values around 105 degrees. For that reason, the National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning through most of southern Wisconsin from noon Thursday through 7 PM Friday evening. Showers and thunderstorms from northern Wisconsin will clip the northeastern portion of the viewing area this afternoon, leading to cooler temperatures there. There is also a chance of some severe storms in the same area later this afternoon into this evening. Tonight will remain warm and very muggy with lows in the upper 70s, and heat index values in the 80s. Any showers and thunderstorms will come to an end overnight.
Friday will be partly sunny, hot and humid with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. High temperatures will reach the lower 90s, and heat index values will once again push into the triple digits. If the thunderstorms miss southern Wisconsin, Friday could be a few degrees hotter than forecast.
For the weekend, Saturday will be variably cloudy, hot and humid with high temperatures near 90 degrees. Heat index values will be in the upper 90s to around 100 degrees. A chance of showers and thunderstorms will develop, mainly later in the day, and showers and thunderstorms will become more likely overnight. Sunday will be variably cloudy, very warm and humid with scattered showers and thunderstorms ending in the morning. Highs will be in the upper 80s, and heat index values will be in the middle to upper 90s.
Monday and Tuesday will be partly sunny, very warm, and a little less humid with high temperatures in the middle 80s and heat index values in the upper 80s and lower 90s.
Wednesday through Friday will be variably cloudy, very warm, and humid with chances of showers and thunderstorms. Highs will reach the middle 80s, with heat index values in the upper 80s to the lower 90s.
