A nearly stationary front is located just south of Wisconsin. Showers and thunderstorms will move into the area from the west this morning, but weaken and fall apart as they do. Severe thunderstorms with high winds, hail and heavy rainfall are possible this afternoon and evening. High temperatures will reach the lower to middle 80s. The threat for severe storms will come to an end later Thursday night with the passage of a cold front. Lows will stay in the upper 60s.
It will be variably cloudy, breezy, a little cooler and turning less humid on Friday. As an area of low pressure heads to the northeast, there will be a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly in areas north of Madison. High temperatures will be near 80 degrees.
Pleasant and dry weather will return for the weekend. Skies will be partly sunny for both Saturday and Sunday. High temperatures will be in the upper 70s on Saturday and in the lower to middle 80s on Sunday.
Monday will be partly sunny, very warm and humid with high temperatures in the upper 80s. Heat index values will climb back into the lower 90s. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will move in on Tuesday, but it will remain breezy, very warm and humid with highs in the upper 80s and heat index values in the 90s.
Wednesday and Thursday will also be very warm and humid with lesser chances of showers and thunderstorms. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s, and heat index values will remain in the lower 90s. Friday will be partly sunny and warm, but less humid with highs in the lower 80s.

NOTES:
There is an ENHANCED RISK of severe thunderstorms for today and tonight for far southern Minnesota, nearly all of Iowa, much of northern Illinois, and far southwestern Wisconsin (south of a Steuben to Monroe line), a SLIGHT RISK of severe thunderstorms across the rest of the southern two-thirds of Minnesota, the rest of Iowa, the rest of Illinois, and the rest of the southwestern half of Wisconsin (south of a Rice Lake to Sheboygan line), and a MARGINAL RISK of severe thunderstorms for much of the rest of Minnesota and the rest of the southwestern three-quarters of Wisconsin (southwest of an Ashland to Green Bay line). As a storm system moves through the Midwest, it will interact with a very warm to hot and humid air mass. Cloud cover from previous thunderstorm activity may keep Minnesota and Wisconsin a little cooler than Iowa and Illinois, so thunderstorm development is most likely along the boundary over Iowa between the cloud cooled air to the north and the hot and humid air that gets sunshine to the south. These thunderstorms will move eastward into Wisconsin and Illinois on Thursday afternoon and Thursday night. High winds, hail, tornadoes, and heavy rainfall are all possible.
