High pressure will then move through the area on Tuesday, leading to partly sunny skies and high temperatures in the lower 80s.
Wednesday will be variably cloudy, breezy, very warm, and more humid with a chance of showers and thunderstorms late in the day or at night as a warm front lifts northward into Wisconsin. High temperatures will be in the upper 80s, with heat index values in the lower to the middle 90s.
Some of the hottest air of the summer will arrive for the latter half of next week. Thursday and Friday will be partly sunny, breezy, hot and humid with high temperatures in the lower to the middle 90s. Heat index values will reach the upper 90s to perhaps as high as 105 degrees. There will be a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms from late Friday into Friday night as a weak cold front washes out over southern Wisconsin.
For next weekend, Saturday will be partly sunny, hot, and humid with high temperatures around 90 degrees; heat index values will be in the middle to the upper 90s. By Saturday night, another system will approach Wisconsin, bringing another chance of showers and thunderstorms. Sunday will be partly sunny, very warm, and humid with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. High temperatures will be in the upper 80s, with heat index values between 90 and 95 degrees.

The Storm Prediction Center says that there is a SLIGHT RISK of severe thunderstorms for today and tonight for extreme southeastern Minnesota, most of Iowa (except for the extreme northwest), the northern half of Illinois, and the southeastern three-quarters of Wisconsin (southeast of a Winona, MN to Rice Lake to Hurley line), and a MARGINAL RISK of severe thunderstorms for the rest of the southeastern third of Minnesota, the rest of Iowa, the rest of Illinois (except for the extreme south), and the rest of Wisconsin. Showers and thunderstorms will end this morning across southern Wisconsin. Clouds cover and cooling from the morning precipitation will affect additional thunderstorms development, but as a cold front moves southeastward through Minnesota and Wisconsin, warm and humid air ahead of the front may support additional thunderstorm development this afternoon. A few severe thunderstorms are possible, with hail, high winds, and heavy rainfall as the main threats. It is possible that the morning clouds and precipitation may make the best threat area for severe thunderstorm development this afternoon shift farther south into Illinois, although isolated severe thunderstorms may still be possible further north in Wisconsin. The severe weather threat will end with the passage of the cold front later tonight.
