NOTES:
The Storm Prediction Center says that there is a SLIGHT RISK of severe thunderstorms for today and tonight for extreme southwestern Minnesota, all of Iowa, and the southwestern three-quarters of Illinois, and a MARGINAL RISK of severe thunderstorms for the rest of the southern third of Minnesota, the rest of Illinois, and the southwestern quarter of Wisconsin (south of a Minneapolis, MN to Portage to Kenosha line). Thunderstorms from late Tuesday night may stabilize the atmosphere in Wisconsin and Illinois, but more thunderstorms will develop by late Wednesday afternoon over South Dakota and Nebraska, moving eastward into Iowa and Minnesota, and eventually into Wisconsin and Illinois. High winds, hail, and heavy rainfall are the main threats.

There is an ENHANCED RISK of severe thunderstorms for Thursday and Thursday night for extreme southern Minnesota, the northeastern three-quarters of Iowa, the northwestern quarter of Illinois, and southwestern Wisconsin (south of a La Crosse to Madison to Lake Geneva line), a SLIGHT RISK of severe thunderstorms across the rest of the southern two-thirds of Minnesota, of Minnesota, the rest of Iowa, the rest of the northern two-thirds of Illinois, and the rest of the southwestern half of Wisconsin (south of a Cumberland to Oshkosh to Manitowoc line), and a MARGINAL RISK of severe thunderstorms for the rest of the southern three-quarters of Minnesota, the rest of the northern three-quarters of Illinois, and the rest of the southwestern three-quarters of Wisconsin (southwest of an Ashland to Green Bay line). As a storm system moves through the Midwest, it will interact with a very warm to hot and humid air mass. Cloud cover from previous thunderstorm activity may keep Minnesota and Wisconsin a little cooler than Iowa and Illinois, so thunderstorm development is most likely along the boundary over Iowa between the cloud cooled air to the north and the hot and humid air that get sunshine to the south. These thunderstorms will move eastward into Wisconsin and Illinois on Thursday afternoon and Thursday night. High winds, hail, tornadoes, and heavy rainfall are all possible.
