This afternoon will be variably cloudy, warm and humid with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Highs will reach the middle 80s, and heat index values will reach the lower to middle 90s. Another round of showers and thunderstorms will develop tonight as a cold front and an area of low pressure move into the region. Some of the storms could produce locally heavy rainfall. A Flash Flood Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for southwestern Wisconsin through early Friday morning.

Showers and thunderstorms will continue Friday as the weather system slowly pushes to the east. Highs will reach the lower 80s Friday, and it will remain humid throughout the day. Showers and thunderstorms will come to an end Friday night, and some areas of fog may develop. Temperatures will fall into the middle 60s by early Saturday morning.

The weekend will be mainly quiet with falling humidity levels. Skies will be partly sunny on Saturday and mostly sunny on Sunday. Highs will reach the lower 80s each day.

Monday will remain mostly sunny with highs in the lower 80s. Tuesday will be partly sunny with highs in the lower 80s. Wednesday will be partly sunny and a little more humid with a slight chance of a shower or a thunderstorm. Highs will reach the middle 80s Wednesday.

Alaska has record warmth this year

Alaska averaging 33.9 degrees over seven months may not seem warm to folks in the Lower 48.

But that just proves they haven't lived there. A not-far-above-freezing high from January 1 to July 31 is a virtual heat wave.
