The Storm Prediction Center says there is a SLIGHT RISK of severe thunderstorms for this afternoon and tonight across southeastern Minnesota, the northeastern half of Iowa, and most of Wisconsin (except for the extreme northwestern and southeastern portions of the state), and a MARGINAL RISK of severe thunderstorms over the rest of the southeastern third of Minnesota, the rest of Iowa, extreme northwestern Illinois, and the rest of Wisconsin. Hot and humid air covers much of the Midwest. A cold front will move through Minnesota, reaching Wisconsin and Iowa this evening, and then will move into Illinois overnight. A few severe thunderstorms are possible along and ahead of the cold front, with high winds, hail and heavy rainfall as the main threats. The severe thunderstorm threat should lessen overnight, and will end with the passage of the cold front.
