PHOTOS: Sun Prairie educator named a teacher of the year in surprise ceremony

A Sun Prairie middle school music teacher was named a teacher of the year by the state superintendent during a surprise ceremony at the school Friday afternoon.

Chris Gleason, a band director and instrumental music teacher at Patrick Marsh Middle School in the Sun Prairie Area School District,  was named Middle School Teacher of the Year.

Gleason was one of four "Teachers of the Year" honorees who received $3,000 from the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation, according to a news release.
