Mild weather will continue for the rest of this week. Tonight will be partly cloudy and milder with temperatures only falling into the middle 40s by early Thursday morning.
On Thursday, a strong fall storm system will develop to the west of Wisconsin. Skies will be partly sunny, and it will be breezy and unseasonably mild with high temperatures climbing into the middle and upper 60s. The record high for Madison for Thursday is 69 degrees from 1971. The storm system will pass by to our north on Friday, leading to mostly cloudy skies, windy conditions, and mild high temperatures in the lower 60s by midday. A cold front will move through Wisconsin on Friday afternoon with a slight chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms. Colder air will begin to move into the state with temperatures nearly steady or slowly falling into the 50s late Friday afternoon.
As colder air continues to move into Wisconsin Friday night, rain showers may mix with a few light snow showers. Saturday will be mostly cloudy to start, and it will be windy and much colder with a slight chance of light rain or snow showers early. Skies will become partly sunny Saturday afternoon, and temperatures will hold nearly steady in the upper 30s through the day. Sunday will be mostly sunny and chilly with high temperatures in the upper 30s to around 40.
Monday will be mostly sunny and not quite as chilly with high temperatures in the middle 40s. Tuesday will be increasingly cloudy with high temperatures in the middle 40s. A chance of rain showers will develop late Tuesday afternoon, and may mix with light snow Tuesday night.
Wednesday will be mostly cloudy and breezy with scattered rain showers, possibly mixing with snow. Highs will drop back near 40. Thursday will be partly sunny and pleasant with highs in the middle 40s.
