Mild weather will continue for the rest of this week. This afternoon will be mostly sunny and mild with high temperatures in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees. Tonight will be partly cloudy and milder with temperatures only falling into the middle 40s by early Thursday morning.
On Thursday, a strong fall storm system will develop to the west of Wisconsin. Skies will be partly sunny, and it will be breezy and unseasonably mild with high temperatures climbing into the middle to upper 60s. The record high for Madison for Thursday is 69 degrees from 1971. The storm system will pass by to our north on Friday, leading to mostly cloudy skies, windy conditions, and mild high temperatures in the lower 60s by midday. A cold front will move through Wisconsin on Friday afternoon with a chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms. Colder air will begin to move into the state with temperatures nearly steady or slowly falling into the 50s on Friday afternoon.
As colder air continues to move into Wisconsin Friday night, rain showers may mix with a few light snow showers. Skies on Saturday will be mostly cloudy, and it will be windy and much colder with a continued chance of light rain or snow showers, mainly in the morning. Temperatures will hold nearly steady in the upper 30s to around 40 through the day. Sunday will be partly sunny, breezy and chilly with high temperatures in the upper 30s to around 40 again.
Monday will be mostly sunny and not quite as chilly with high temperatures in the middle 40s. Tuesday will be increasingly cloudy and pleasant with high temperatures in the middle 40s. A chance of rain showers will develop late Tuesday or Tuesday night.
Wednesday will be mostly cloudy and cooler with scattered rain showers, possibly mixing with snow. Highs will drop back near 40. Thursday will be partly sunny and pleasant with highs in the lower to middle 40s.
