A winter storm will affect southern Wisconsin from tonight through Sunday morning with snow, wind, and eventally another blast of bitterly cold weather. Tonight will be mostly cloudy and not as cold with a period of light snow and flurries. Any accumulation should be less than one inch. Temperatures will fall to the middle single digits around midnight, and should then hold nearly steady or slowly rise through the single digits.
Friday will be mostly cloudy and not as cold; it will become breezy during the afternoon. Occasional snow should develop, most likely during the afternoon. High temperatures will be in the upper teens.
Saturday will be mostly cloudy and will become windy with continued snow gradually tapering to flurries; additional snow accumulation of 1-3 inches is likely during the day for storm total accumulations of 5-11 inches or more, with the highest amounts north and east of Madison and the lowest amounts over southwestern Wisconsin. High temperatures will be near 20 degrees again, but that will be early in the day as temperatures will hold steady or slowly fall through the rest of the afternoon. Blowing snow will be possible from Saturday evening through Sunday morning.
Sunday will be partly sunny, breezy, and bitterly cold. Low temperatures will be near ten below zero, while wind chills could be as cold as -35. High temperatures will be near zero, and wind chills will range from -10 to -20 through the day.
Monday will be partly sunny, becoming breezy and not quite as cold. Low temperatures will drop to the single digits below zero with wind chills between -10 and -20. High temperatures will be in the middle to upper teens.
Temperatures should begin to moderate for the middle of the week. Tuesday will be partly sunny, breezy, and a little milder with high temperatures in the upper 20s to around 30 degrees. High temperatures will then rise into the lower to middle 30s for Wednesday with partly sunny skies as breezy southwesterly winds continue.
Thursday will be variably cloudy, breezy, and a little colder with a chance of flurries; high temperatures will fall to the upper 20s. Friday withh be partly sunny and should become breezy as high temperatures climb to the lower 30s.
