Thursday will be mostly sunny and bitterly cold in the morning. Skies will begin to turn cloudy in the afternoon. High temperatures will be in the middle single digits above zero, although wind chills will remain below zero through the day.
Thursday afternoon's clouds are the forerunners of a winter storm that will begin to affect the area by Thursday night. Light snow will develop on Thursday night well out ahead of the approaching storm with accumulations of around an inch possible by Friday morning. Friday will be mostly cloudy, become breezy, and not as cold with light snow and flurries continuing in the afternoon. High temperatures will be near 20 degrees. Snow will continue overnight with an additional 3-6" likely through Friday night.
The storm system will move eastward on Saturday, followed by another blast of bitterly cold arctic air from Saturday afternoon through early Monday morning. Saturday will be mostly cloudy, windy, and will turn colder with snow tapering to flurries; additional snow accumulation of 1-2" is likely during the day for storm total accumulations of 5-9". High temperatures will be near 20 degrees again, but that will be early in the day as temperatures will hold steady or slowly fall through the rest of the afternoon. Blowing snow will be possible from Saturday evening through Sunday morning. Sunday will be partly sunny, breezy, and bitterly cold. Low temperatures will be near ten below zero, while wind chills could be as cold as -30. High temperatures will be near zero, and wind chills will range from -5 to -15 through the day.
Monday will be partly sunny and not quite as cold. Low temperatures will drop to the single digits below zero with wind chills between -10 and -20. High temperatures will be in the lower to middle teens.
Temperatures should begin to moderate for the middle of the week. Tuesday and Wednesday will be partly sunny, breezy, and milder with high temperatures in the middle to upper 20s Tuesday. High temperatures will then rise into the lower 30s for Wednesday.
