A winter storm will continue to affect southern Wisconsin today, followed by dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills later tonight. Today will be mostly cloudy, and it will become windy and turn colder this afternoon. Occasional snow will taper to flurries, with additional snow accumulations of 2-4 inches during the day, resulting in storm total accumulations of 5-9 inches plus. The heaviest totals should be to the north and northeast of Madison. As it becomes windy, blowing snow is likely. High temperatures will reach the upper teens in the morning, with temperatures holding nearly steady or slowly falling in the afternoon.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy, breezy, and turning dangerously cold with snow showers and flurries ending, followed by clearing skies overnight. Temperatures will fall to the single digits by late evening; overnight low temperatures will fall to around -10 degrees, with wind chills by morning dropping to -20 to -35.

Sunday will be mostly sunny but will be bitterly cold. Blowing snow may still be a problem, mainly during the morning. High temperatures will only rise to the single digits below zero, with wind chills remaining from -10 to -20 through the day. On Sunday night, expect clear skies and another bitterly cold night. Low temperatures will fall again to around -10 degrees. Winds won't be as brisk as Sunday morning but still will be strong enough to produce wind chills of -15 to -25 by morning.

Temperatures will moderate for the rest of the week. Monday will be partly sunny, windy and not quite as cold. High temperatures will be in the middle to the upper teens. Tuesday will be partly sunny, windy, and a little milder with high temperatures in the lower 30s. 

A weak weather system will pass through the Midwest from Wednesday into Thursday. Skies will be variably cloudy and it will be breezy with a chance of flurries on both days. High temperatures will be in the lower 30s on Wednesday, but it will turn a little colder on Thursday with high temperatures in the upper 20s.

Thursday will be variably cloudy and breezy with a chance of flurries; high temperatures will be in the upper 20s. Friday with be partly sunny and it should become breezy as high temperatures climb to the lower 30s.

The weather should be quiet and seasonably cold for the Christmas weekend. Christmas Eve Saturday will be variably cloudy, breezy, and a little colder with scattered flurries; high temperatures will be in the upper 20s. Christmas Day Sunday will be partly sunny, breezy, and a little colder with high temperatures in the lower 20s.
