A winter storm system will affect Wisconsin over the weekend into Monday morning. Today will be mostly cloudy and cold with light snow developing by late afternoon. High temperatures will be in the lower to the middle 20s.  

As the initial part of the storm moves through Wisconsin tonight, skies will be mostly cloudy, winds will become breezy, and about 2-5" of snow will accumulate by Sunday morning, with the heaviest amounts near and south of Madison. Temperatures will hold nearly steady in the 20s overnight.

Sunday will be mostly cloudy, breezy and cold with occasional snow gradually tapering to flurries by the evening. An additional 1-4" of snow is likely on Sunday, with the heaviest amounts north of Madison. High temperatures will be in the upper 20s to near 30 degrees. Total snow accumulations will be 5-9" through Sunday evening.

Monday will be mostly cloudy, breezy, and cold with flurries ending as the storm system continues to move to the east. A little sunshine may be possible in the afternoon. High temperatures will be in the middle 20s.

A cold front will move through Wisconsin on Tuesday with variably cloudy skies and a chance of flurries. It will turn breezy and even colder in the afternoon as high temperatures top out near 20 degrees around midday before temperatures hold nearly steady or slowly fall through the teens in the afternoon. 

Wednesday and Thursday will be breezy and very cold. Wind chills will range from -10 to -20 early in the morning, while actual air temperatures will be near or just below zero. During the day, high temperatures will top out around 10 degrees above zero. Wednesday will be variably cloudy with a slight chance of flurries, while Thursday will be partly sunny.

Friday won't be quite as cold with partly sunny skies in the morning becoming mostly cloudy later in the day; light snow or flurries will develop late in the day or at night. High temperatures will rise into the upper teens to the lower 20s.

For next weekend, Saturday will be cloudy, breezy, and cold with light snow. High temperatures will be in the lower 20s. Sunday will be partly sunny, breezy, and cold with high temperatures in the lower 20s.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY has been issued from 3 PM Saturday afternoon until 6 PM Sunday evening for eastern Iowa, including the counties of DELAWARE and DUBUQUE.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY has been issued from 4 PM Saturday afternoon until 9 PM Sunday evening for west-central and part of southwestern Wisconsin, including the counties of MONROE, JUNEAU, ADAMS, VERNON, and RICHLAND (this includes the La Crosse metropolitan area).

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY has been issued from 6 PM Saturday evening until 6 PM Sunday evening for northwestern Illinois, including the counties of JO DAVIESS and STEPHENSON.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY has been issued from 3 PM Saturday afternoon until 6 PM Sunday evening for north-central and parts of northeastern Illinois, including the counties of WINNEBAGO, BOONE, and McHENRY (this includes the Rockford metropolitan area and the western and northwestern suburbs of Chicago).

A WINTER STORM WATCH has been issued from 4 PM Saturday afternoon until midnight early Monday morning for part of south-central Wisconsin, including the counties of SAUK, IOWA, LAFAYETTE, and GREEN.

A WINTER STORM WATCH has been issued from 6 PM Saturday evening until midnight early Monday morning for parts of south-central and southeastern Wisconsin including the counties of MARQUETTE, GREEN LAKE, COLUMBIA, DODGE, DANE, JEFFERSON, ROCK, and WALWORTH (this includes the Madison metropolitan area).
