The coldest air of the season so far will arrive from tonight into Thursday. Tonight will be mostly clear and bitterly cold with temperatures falling into the single digits below zero. Wind chills will range from -10 to -25 by early Thursday morning. Thursday will be mostly sunny in the morning, but clouds will increase in the afternoon. High temperatures will only reach the middle to upper single digits, and wind chills will range from 0 to -10 during the day.
A chance of light snow will develop Thursday night well out ahead of an approaching low pressure system.Friday will then be mostly cloudy and becoming breezy as that system moves into the area. Snow showers will intensify in the afternoon and 2-4" of accumulation are likely. Highs will be near 20. Snow will continue overnight with an additional 2-4" likely.
The storm system will move eastward on Saturday, followed by another blast of cold arctic air on Sunday. Saturday will be mostly cloudy and windy with snow tapering to flurries before ending; some additional snow accumulation is likely with total accumulations of 6-9". High temperatures will be near 20 again, but temperatures will hold steady or slowly fall in the afternoon. Blowing snow will be possible by Saturday evening. Sunday will be partly sunny, breezy early and bitterly cold with blowing snow possible. Low temperatures will be in the single digits below zero, while wind chills could be as cold as -25. High temperatures will be near zero, and wind chills will range from -5 to -15 through the day.
Monday will be partly sunny and not quite as cold. Low temperatures will drop to the single digits below zero, although with little wind, wind chills shouldn't be a factor. High temperatures will be in the lower to middle teens.
Tuesday will be partly sunny, breezy, and milder with high temperatures in the middle to upper 20s. Highs will then rise into the lower 30s for Wednesday and Thursday with a chance of a rain/snow mix on Thursday.
