A winter storm will affect southern Wisconsin today through Sunday morning with snow, wind, and eventually another blast of bitterly cold weather. Skies will be cloudy and it won't be as cold with breezy conditions and snow developing this afternoon. Highs will be in the upper teens to around 20.  Snow will continue tonight with accumulation by Saturday morning of 3-6". Lows will be nearly steady in the upper teens.

Saturday will be mostly cloudy and will become windy with heavier snow redeveloping late in the morning through the afternoon; additional snow accumulation of 2-4 inches is likely during the day for storm total accumulations of 6-11 inches or more, with the highest amounts north and east of Madison and the lowest amounts over southwestern Wisconsin. High temperatures will be near 20 degrees again, but that will be early in the day as temperatures will hold steady or slowly fall through the rest of the afternoon. Blowing snow will be possible from Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning. Any flurries will end Saturday night, with some clearing toward morning. Lows will drop near -10 and winds will be breezy, leading to winds chills between -20 and -35.

Sunday will be mostly sunny, breezy early, and bitterly cold. High temperatures will be near zero or slightly below zero, and wind chills will range from -10 to -20 through the day.

Monday will be partly sunny, becoming breezy and not quite as cold. Low temperatures will drop to the single digits below zero with wind chills between -10 and -20. High temperatures will be in the middle to upper teens.

Temperatures should begin to moderate for the middle of the week. Tuesday will be partly sunny, breezy, and a little milder with high temperatures in the upper 20s to around 30 degrees. Wednesday will be variably cloudy with a chance of some light snow or flurries as a low passes to our north. Highs will remain near 30.

Thursday will be variably cloudy and breezy with a chance of flurries, mainly early; high temperatures will be in the lower 30s. Friday with be partly sunny and should become breezy as high temperatures climb to the middle to upper 30s.

The Christmas weekend will start with variably cloudy skies on Christmas eve with a chance of rain and snow showers. Christmas day will be partly sunny, and both days will have highs in the lower to middle 30s.
