The stationary front that has been sitting in the area all week has shifted a little further to the south. As a result, scattered showers and thunderstorms are most likely from Dane county to areas south and west. High temperatures will range from the lower 80s in SW WI to the lower 70s along Lake Michigan. The threat for severe weather will be lower today. There is still a slight chance for severe storms in the Mississippi River valley and areas to the west. Heavy rainfall is possible as well with amply low level moisture present.
The stationary front will lift northward as a warm front tonight into Friday morning. Showers and thunderstorms will accompany the front, but come to an end by Friday afternoon. Skies will clear for the second half of Friday with highs temperatures back in the middle 80s.
Over the weekend it will remain warm and muggy, but the threat for rain will be reduced. There will be smaller chances for showers an! d thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoons of both Saturday and Sunday. Highs will be in the middle 80s with a heat index near 90. Isolated shower and thunderstorm chances will linger into Monday and Tuesday, with slightly lower temperatures and humidity. Highs will be near 80. We should finally dry out completely on Wednesday, with highs in the upper 70s.
